Adrian Hawley Building a 1/6 Scale Lynx Helicopter Part 3

Part Three
Well, the mechanics have arrived with typical German engineering and quality. I have now built them and fitted the engine. The basic box format is made from metal with a 23cc Zenoah petrol engine shoe horned in between. (So plenty of torque!) Its worth noting that these mechanics are regularly used for aerial photography/filming, so can lift some weight too!

Everything about these mechanics says industrial and heavy duty.  The servos pull 10kg at 6v. I intend to run the flight avionics on 6v (red toggle) and run a separate ring for auxiliary parts (lights/fans/accessories etc) on a 4.8v ring. (blue toggle)

The blades I have planned to utilise are Vario 810mm (see compared to a standard “30” size blade

And the muffler on this thing as it petrol need to be fairly substantial too. (Set compared to a 30-size muffler. I have opted for a longer, quieter pipe. Power is not a problem, but I want it to be as quiet as possible (more of that later!)

The inside has been sprayed with black and the soundproofing has been added.

The fuel tank is having a trial fit to one side of the mechanics fixing plate.

A bit more scaling is happening at the same time……

Onboard electrical system is made and trial fitted.

Lighting rig is finished and just awaits transplanting into main fuselage

Even the tail is coming along…….

So we are nearly there, a few more bits to fit….
The tail drive is fitted, but hidden away. There is more and it still needs painting and test flying.
One last photo to show overall progress..
