Part Four
Where are we now?
Well nearing completion actually.
As it is one of those projects where there is no plan, no solutions…. only challenges!
Everything is new so solutions have to be found to each and every problem before you can move on.
So Tail….
Not strictly scale 4 blade tail, that will come when funding allows.

But enough to test fly so why not have a bit of fun painting the hub and blades. (Careful to balance them afterwards!)
As described previously, the main engine/ mechanics have arrived from Germany/Austria, they now need the control servos to make everything move. Typically I chose hi torque (10kg at 6v) digital servos. They were not available quickly in the UK, but 8 weeks later they arrived. I am using 4 of them just for the swash plate, another for tail and a Futaba for the throttle.
The silver shiny thing on the left is the manifold end of the exhaust system (just in case you are wondering!)
More scaling is going on particularly on the rotor head and skids, and the blades (mentioned earlier is trial fitted to the rotor head.
Again a 4 blade head is planned, but the two will suffice for its maiden and shakedown flights!
And finally….A good friend and I were imagining what it would be like putting Royal Marine Commandos on the skids (just for fun really).
The picture below uses two of the three ‘crew’ I have for a fun look at what it MIGHT have looked like!

Don’t forget these figures are not toys and are 12” high (shows how big this Helicopter is!)
