Part 2 - Adrian Hawleys 1/6th Scale Lynx Helicopter Build

Lynx build continued from Part 1:
Lynx Full Size

This is the basics of the fuel filler. On this heli it will only be aesthetic. As the actual mechanics and fuel tank are inside the main fuselage, its seems logical to put the real petrol fuel filler inside to.

I spent the day with 641 Sqn RNAS Yeovilton and took over 300 pictures of every inch of a real AH7 Lynx. The seats are an exact replica of those seen. Scratch built from plasticard, various metal and plastic extrusions and balsa seat cushions.

Just after primer but before final detailing

The very basic seats

Seats in situ with the rest of the cockpit nearing completion, just pilot, seatbelts and control sticks to fit now.

Lynx
The cockpit dash almost ready to input into the rest of the cockpit module

Foot access steps above is photo of real thing, my impression on the right ready to add to the fuselage walls, still trying to get these fellas to open, and close properly

Lynx
As we can see doors now open and close as do the avionics bay doors.
The main door slides too!!

Lynx

The basics of the avionics bay. I am struggling with weight at the front end by doing this part of the build, but still I have to achieve a minimum take off weight of 12Kg for this bird so maybe I wont try too hard! !!

lynx riveting

Hurrah started the riveting. This is the top of the Lynx over the top of the engines basically. I have riveted the tail section, which swallowed over 2000 rivets in a 2-foot section!

lynx panels
Here is a good idea of all those aluminium panels;
it looks even better with the rivets added

Lynx
The panels are starting to take shape too now!

lynx comparison

I took this photo to show the size against a 60 sized Raptor and 60 Hirobo Cobra, (that’s the one that was desert coloured, its had an overhaul!).Future progress to be reported in later issues of 'The Wet Weekend'
