Sharsted Court is steeped in history, dating back to well before the 11th Century, when it was recorded in the Domesday Weddings at Sharsted CourtBook ordered by William The Conqueror.

From a 14th centruy medieval court, it was remodelled in 1711 into a Queen Ann mansion. The Ballroom was added in the 19th century and most recently a conservatory has been built onto the Victorian East Wing.

Secluded in the midst of Kentish orchards and woodlands, Sharsted Court is both unique and romantic. As you approach the manor you feel as if you're stepping into a fairy tale. Entering the tall wrought iron gates topped with stone flying bulls, you view the breathtaking Manor and garden surrounded by arched walls of flint and mellow brick and cascading, old fashioned roses.

Sharsted Court Wedding facilitiesA maze-like topiary garden, a charming Queen Anne gazebo, terraces built into the wall and giant yews lovingly sculpted into interesting shapes, are just a few of the details that make this setting so wonderfully unique and beautiful - throughout every season of the year.

The main entrance of Sharsted leads you into the original medieval house, now the Front Hall, a large room with a grand fireplace and minstrel's gallery. Through the library with carved bookcases and billiard table, you enter the Ballroom, a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony, with its regal panelledceiling, graceful chandelier and large windows which bathe the room in afternoon sunlight.

Sharsted Court Event Facilities

The Ballroom is licensed for marriage ceremonies and can hold approximately 100 people. The Ballroom may also be used for receptions and can comfortably seat 80 people at tables. The Front Hall is an ideal area for receiving guests or to be used for smaller receptions of up to 50 people at tables. The Library has a handsome, full-sized billiards table overlaid for a central buffet.

Your wedding at Sharsted includes the three main rooms: The Ballroom, Front Hall and Library, as well as extensive walled gardens through which you and your guests are welcome to roam. If you require a larger number of guests, you can have a marquee set in the grounds adjacent to the house.

Sharsted Court WeddingsWalking around the house and gardens - a truly grand setting - you can't help but daydream about the festivities and colourful people to whom Sharsted must have played host. If only the walls could talk!
