'Easter Monday'
Wychling Walk
Beating the Bounds of the Parish,
Easter Monday 17 April

Beating the bounds of the parish was traditionally organised on Rogation Sunday. We are continuing the tradition, revived last year, based on a walk that took place on 12 May 1763 and recorded in a letter written by the Rev Arthur Clark.

This is an undulating circular walk of about 8 miles which follows, where practical, the Wychling Parish boundary; because of field changes and crop cycles it will not be possible to follow the boundary exactly. The walk will start at 10:30 from Bunkers Hill on Easter Monday 17 April and during the walk there will be a short detour to visit Wychling Church where soup will be served. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

There is no entry fee but voluntary donations would be welcome (suggested minimum of £5 per adult), proceeds will be split between work to cure the damp at St Margarets Church, Wychling and the Pilgrims Hospice. Please give generously to these very good causes. As parking at Bunkers Hill is limited there will be some restrictions on the number of walkers, so entry before the day is encouraged.   .

Entry forms may be obtained by email from
CaroleAnnAndrews(AT sign)aol.com or
from Roger Moate at New Calico, Newnham"
