ARTF is the acronym for 'Almost Ready To Fly' and usually refers to model kits that need minimum assembly to build e.g. main parts are pre-built and pre-covered and just require gluing together. Usually requiring a few hours or 1 or 2 evenings to complete. They often represent very good value particularly for novices to building model aeroplanes and those without the time or space for building projects. Issues have been raised on low quality materials and/or inadequate glueing of pre-built parts by some manufacturers.. It is always adviseable to thoroughly check such models for build defects and to re-inforce/add extra glue as necessary or it is felt to be prudent.
