Unburnt fuel
left in an engine after use can accelerate corrosion on some engine components.
Also if leaving an engine for some time without use the fuel left in the
engine will eventually 'gum' up. Using After Run oil the fuel is displaced
and provides a protective coating for engine parts prolonging engine life.
