Introducing Radio Control Model Aircraft
Introducting Radio Control model aircraft
AileronsOn a model aircraft Ailerons are used to bank or roll the model. There is an aileron on the trailing edge of each wing and they move together but in opposite directions. E.g. For a starboard roll the aileron on the starboard wing will come up catching the airflow and pushing the starboard wing down. Simultaneously the port wing aileron will go down catching the airflow and push the port wing up and the model will roll to starboard. Vice versa for roll to port.

AileronsAileron Differential
Can be used on models with large wingspan and short fuselage e.g. Aeronca Champ, Piper Cub etc Aileron differential is used to set up the ailerons e.g. 40% 'up' on the port aileron but with only a corresponding 35% 'down' on the starboard aileron. This causes the the model to 'skid' round in a bank rather than just roll axially. The percentages given are just a rough guide and experiementation will produce desired results.
