Bi - Metal Manx Norton Head
 

These are exact copies of original 1939 - 1949 Manx Norton head's

They are avaliable as 350's (71 mm) and 500's (79.6 mm)

These were manufactured with my friend Jim, as we both needed one

Although i say it myself they have come out very well, rediscovering old casting techniques.

The inner bronze is an exact copy of the orginal, with fins (as picture below)

These long rockers are not 1:1 ratio as later rockers

These early long rockers give approximatley 10% more lift on the valve as on the cam

Roller Rocker

 

 The Roller Rockers are now completed, fitted with the same roller assembly within G50’s which have been made for George Beale in the past, resulting in the elimination of all cam wear and increased performance.

These rockers now weigh the same as an unmodified original.

Needle roller conversion kit for original rockers.

Consists of needle roller bearings and spacer.

These bearings contain over 3 times as many rollers as the originals, so the load carrying ability is vastly improved. Also as the rollers are smaller diameter they revolve more using a greater proportion of the rocker shaft.

If you are using the original cupped washers the counter bore may have to be deepend slightly as the originals vary a lot - our new washers (below) will work perfect.

Exactly as orginal with 11 holes for original style bevels.

Special Camshaft

This is a special to suit later course pitch bevels, the difference is the number of holes on the vernier, this one has 14 and not 11, as the original.

Norton changed this to give more accurate valve timing.

The big advantage of course bevels is that they are stronger and most improtantly  they are avaliable from several suppliers

Course bevels can be used in international nortons providing the hole for the bottom bevel housing is bored out bigger in the crank case and a sleeve is added to the bevel housing.

Pistons

Forged Norton 82mm Piston

 

I have had a batch of these pistons made by Omega Pistons who are based in my home town. They are for 600cc Norton’s and have a compression height of 1.25 inches.

This is a high compression 13.8:1 for methanol.

Works Norton's used 82mm pistons from 1938 - 1951 (with a 94.3mm stroke)

These pistons have been speciaily modified to fit original 500 heads and  barrels which will give a capacity of 530cc's, this is the maximum an original 500 barrel can be bored to (both iron and aluminium).

They give squish clearance on the sides as per matchless G50 and have a flat top for added performance.

Avaliable in 9:5 & 14:1

Titanium conrod being machined in house on one of our cnc machines.


To reduce the roller speed these conrods have a smaller bore at the big end ( 2 ") and the outside of the little end has been enlarged.

As the conrod has a 2" bore they use crankpin item number "A7" or "A8" (found in big end bearing section)


Please Note!

Some clubs have banned the use of titanium conrods. Speed way is one such sport to have done this because they are deemed to give an unfair advantage.
